Showcases & Electives
Senior Campus Showcases
We believe learning is most powerful when shared! That’s why we invite families to join us for Showcases of Learning in week 10 of Term 2 and Term 4.
What happens at a Showcase?
- Learners present their projects, reflecting on what they’ve learned and created.
- Families can ask questions, provide encouragement, and celebrate their child’s achievements.
- It’s a chance to see learning in action—beyond grades and test scores.
What to Expect
Each Showcase is learner led, meaning learners take charge of:
- Scheduling their presentation time with their Mura Gadi teacher.
- Deciding what to share—this could include projects, digital portfolios, journals, and reflections.
- Inviting guests—including their Mura Gadi teacher, a parent/carer, and any mentors, teachers, or peers they’d like to include.
Your Role as a Family Member
Families are an essential part of this experience! Your presence and support help learners reflect deeply on their learning and build confidence in sharing their progress. You can help by:
Asking guiding questions to spark meaningful conversations:
- How did you choose this project?
- What challenges did you face, and how did you overcome them?
- What did you learn about yourself through this process?
- Where do you want to go next with your learning?
Showcases aren’t about perfect final products—they are about growth, reflection, and ownership of learning. This is a chance for learners to see how far they’ve come, recognise their successes and set new goals moving forward.
This experience is separate from formal reports, offering a rich, personal insight into your child’s development. It’s an opportunity to engage in their learning journey and celebrate their hard work in a meaningful way.
Electives
Our elective offerings are designed to support learner agency, engagement, and personalised learning. By allowing learners to explore their passions, develop future-ready skills, and take ownership of their learning journey, electives align with our commitment to contemporary, project-based learning.
At Evelyn Scott School, our vision is to foster curiosity and empower learners to become critical and creative thinkers. Our elective program reflects our values of Learning, Safety, and Respect, ensuring an inclusive, challenging and engaging experience for all learners.
How Electives Work
- Years 7 & 8: Learners study Japanese and select one elective per semester.
- Years 9 & 10: Learners select two electives per semester.
- Each elective runs for a semester, providing in depth exploration and skill development.
- Electives support critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, and problem-solving, preparing learners for diverse future pathways.
