Parent Resources

At Evelyn Scott School our focus is on engaging learners with quality literature and resources. We encourage learners to read often and widely to develop their reading voracity.

Learners are supported to borrow, read and return books regularly. Learners may borrow up to four books. We ask them to keep two books at school to read during learning time and take two books home to read for pleasure.

Learners are also encouraged to borrow over the school holidays to continue reading for pleasure.

Parents and carers can help to develop young readers by supporting their children to remember their library books for their sessions as well as reading aloud with them as often as possible.

To develop their reading proficiency, learners of all ages are encouraged to read aloud to adults, friends and siblings.

Read Every Day

Browsing and Borrowing Schedule in the Library 2026

The library browsing and borrowing schedule is displayed below.

Learners are able to return and borrow books during their sessions as well any day during breaks.

To keep books safe, library bags are encouraged but learners may borrow without one.

Parents/carers may set up a borrowing account by visiting the library and speaking to Anna.
