Evelyn Scott School is proud to be at the forefront of contemporary education in the ACT, with a commitment to future-focused learning that places students at the centre of all we do.
Over the past three years, our staff have engaged deeply in the Making SPACE Professional Learning Series, exploring innovative approaches to learning design, student agency, and assessment. This long-term involvement has helped us strengthen our unique learning model and align our practice with the ACT Future of Education Strategy.
State-of-the-Art Facilities
We take great pride in our state-of-the-art facilities, which have earned recognition locally, nationally, and internationally for excellence in educational design. Our learning environments are a critical part of our pedagogy — dynamic, flexible, responsive spaces that foster collaboration, creativity, and student agency.
Professional Partnerships & the Making SPACE Series
In 2023, we embarked on the next phase: ensuring our purpose-built facilities are used to their full potential.
To guide this, Principal Jackie Vaughan established a professional partnership with our school’s original architects, Hayball Architects, and Dr Dion Tuckwell from Monash University. Together, we co-designed a bespoke Professional Learning Program for our staff, delivered through one workshop per term in 2023 under the Making SPACE Series framework.
Beginning in January 2023, the program has enriched our understanding of how design thinking, evidence-based research, and spatial theory can inform the learning environments we create. Teachers have engaged in reflective practices, developed Essential Questions, and undertaken action research to explore how space can deepen student-led learning.
